Intervention was made during: Festival Tobogan organized by Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture, 3. – 8. 7. 2017, Bencic Complex, Rijeka, Croatia
The second edition of Parkplayground—collective work that tests the possibility of using urban space—was created as a green living platform in front of future cultural center for children in Rijeka. It was carefully planned to be suitable children and youth, as well as families, neighbours and all interested citizens. In 6 days most of activities held on the 120 square meters of grass carpet were carried out in collaboration with neighbouring associations and institutions during: Recreation Day, Talking Day, Creativity and Solidarity Day, Summer Cinema Day, Performance Day and Play & Market Day. The intervention seeks to advocate for green spaces in the city and to demonstrate how such spaces raise citizens’ quality of life in various capacities.
The project had an educational element. During Bencic Youth Council’s summer school 18 of their members participated in learning and creating (art) interventions in public space.
